We are on the way

Ok, so day 1 on the way to Alaska is done! Before I get too far let's talk about the pic. Since I first saw this sign I wanted our picture taken with it and now seemed the most appropriate situation. Obviously driving from the east coast all the way to Anchorage is no small task. Plus I just love this picture of us!

So...day 1? Well for those who don't know I let my government travel card get packed with our household goods. This is the credit card I am supposed to use during our travels. Well I had to order a 2-3 day express replacement card. The card was requested on Tuesday and we were hoping to see it on Thursday. No luck there. Friday arrives and I final out-process the base, still no card. I finally get a tracking number and it isn't supposed to show up until 8 P.M. This isn't going to work...all my planning will have to be adjusted. After a few phone calls, I request the card to be delivered by 3. Guess what? It was in hand by 2!  With new card in hand we head off to Knoxville. (For the record, I know Shannon was upset with me but she was very patient with me and my screw up. I actually wanted to throw up today so I'm glad it came together).

I planned the whole trip with the idea that we will not rush ourselves. This paid off from the start. With the unplanned delay we arrived at the first stop by 9pm. We got a swim in and an adult beverage...not too bad.

Cerys as always was the best traveler ever. When the rain started, she sang 'rain rain go away come again another day' until it stopped. She also slept for quite a few hours which was nice. Traffic along the way was not too bad and we are working all the 'kinks' of being together in the truck for 15 days.

I think that is all for now. We are extremely excited and can't wait for what this trip holds for us. We will continue to share our experiences with you all.

Until next time...cheers little ears!

Oh no! Well at least you didn't pack Cerys!

I love the sign, wonder if there will be anything similar at the other end of your journey?

I love this blog. If day one ends on a pleasant note, then the rest of the trip will be great. Hugs to all and stay safe, and enjoy.
