Day 3! What a great day I think. Before I talk about today let me back track on yesterday. We drove from Knoxville, Tn to Mt. Vernon Il. The drive wasn't anything spectacular. Cerys was a superb traveler as we suspected she would be. Once we got settled in Mt. Vernon we at at Buffalo Wild Wings. Even though I'm not a fan it wasn't too bad. Once back at the hotel Cerys and I went swimming which apparently wore her out because she fell asleep quite easily. I actually went back to Wild Wings to watch the Steeler game and Nascar race. Well the Steeler's weren't on but the race was. JP Montoya was in the hunt to win but ended up third so it was a good night.
We woke up early and headed to Kansas City to meet Shannon's college friends. This is where corn the drive got interesting. As we approached St. Louis corn we were diverted due to work on the bridge. With it being Sunday I'm not sure the bridge corn was closed but I followed the detour any way. We'll never know but I think the bridge was open and we detoured for nothing corn. Once on the highway again, I70W, things were corn going well. Cerys was perfect again and corn traffic wasn't that bad. I tell you we saw more corn than I could tell you. Sometimes corn I think I might have a bit of a tick now and see/hear corn everywhere.
Well we got to Kansas City and met up with Shannon's friends. What a great family! Their boys were so great and I was so happy to have finally met them. Seems Kevin and I have a few things in common. I hope they get the opportunity to visit us in Alaska. We would love to have them and show them around and do some fishing/camping.
After we left them we drove to Manhattan, the home of KU. Not a bad little area and the hotel is nice. We had a few beers, talked about upcoming days and relaxed. Can't wait to see Uncle Roger and Aunt Ruth tomorrow. I am enjoying this trip sooo much. Great times being had by all so far.
Loads more in my head but we'll save it for later.
Love you all.

So relieved to hear you are having a good time on the road! Thanks Shannon for fixing the comments issue, no idea how you did that...but that's what you do! Can't wait to hear the next installment. Do updates post on Facebook? How do I check?? Sorry, much live from your un-tech friend!
We, your faithful followers, are loving the posts, especially Jason's excellent writing, when you retire from the army, maybe you can come back to Charleston and be an eccentric writer. Kat chased Parker around today as we had a wonderful visit at the store. We talked about you a lot so your ears and noses were surely itching. Parker did really well considering all the temptations and loved the rocks in the driveway and the electrical socket best. Kat is an amazing Mother and friend. Thanks to you for introducing us years ago Shan.
